SharePoint Web Parts

new-product SusQtech recently launched their newest product - SP URL Manager.  SP URL Manager is an easy-to-use add-on for SharePoint 2010 that allows users to create simple, “vanity” URLs from the lengthy and complex default URLs in SharePoint.

According to Steve Witt, VP of Marketing and Product Development, SusQtech’s clients have asked for a tool such as this one, designed for use in marketing and communications campaigns. Having vanity URLs in campaigns makes URLs more user-friendly, something marketing professionals can surely appreciate. For example, SP URL allows you to change http://www.susqtech.com/products/Pages/SP-URLManager.aspx to http://www.susqtech.com/spurl.

review4 (Rating: 4 out of 5)
Most businesses want an open and communicative environment.  This most commonly includes the display of an organization chart on the company intranet.  For the growing number of companies who implemented SharePoint as their intranet, Microsoft left a gaping hole in the out-of-the-box functionality of both WSS 3.0 and MOSS 2007 when it comes to addressing this need. Content and Code’s 1OrgChart is one of the better products that has appeared on the market to fill the gap ...

review4 (Rating: 4 out of 5)

One column type missing from SharePoint that I've always found useful is the cascading list. Not only is a cascading list a staple field type on most web forms, but it is a big favorite with end users. It magically narrows down your choices on the next column once you've made a selection from the previous column! Big deal right? We've seen these things for years on the web, but Microsoft just did not feel comfortable with making these an out-of-the-box option. Luckily for us, we've got options from 3rd party developers...

review3 (Rating 3 out of 5)

Lightning Conductor effectively wraps the built-in Content Query Web Part (CQWP) from Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 in a user-friendly interface.  Whereas the CQWP requires that the user modify either the Web Part Definition XML file or the ItemStyle XSL file to accomplish common tasks (such as adding fields or converting data types), Lightning Conductor wraps this functionality in user-friendly controls exposed via the tool pane ...

review4 (Rating: 4 out of 5)

SharePoint implementations are currently growing. This is because IT teams can leverage scalability possibilities offered and also because end users can completely configure or create applications. Out-of-the-box SharePoint forms are quite simple and cannot be configured without some customizations (using Microsoft SharePoint Designer) or development (with Visual Studio)...

review3 (Rating 3 out of 5)

This KWizCom product was clearly built first and foremost for tagging, with taxonomy management thrown in as an extra bonus. As a result, implementers will likely get more features than they’d expect from a standard tagging solution – such as the ability to select tags from a list.

Bamboo’s World Clock and Weather web part is without a doubt one of the most popular free web parts for the SharePoint community. But being free is not the main reason why this web part is so good. It addresses a pretty basic need that SharePoint does not have out of the box ...

Without fail,  when I and other Officetalk SharePoint Consultants are assisting with SharePoint projects we get the dreaded question: "Yes, but how do I add another level to the list?". Ok,  the wording changes, but they all want to have a drop-down list based on the entry they entered on a previous list…
