Helpdesk software is a basic part of practically any contemporary IT environment. As a rule, helpdesk solutions are intended to provide the customer/employee or other end-user with appropriate interactive support (technical, sales, etc.) related to the company's products and services. The main point of a helpdesk is to troubleshoot problems using a formal procedure for user requests creation, management and resolution.

SharePoint Summit Toronto Review: Great Presenters, Well-Run Event

SharePoint Summit (mid-may 2013) is the second technology conference I’ve attended in my native town of Toronto. Most, if not all, conferences I’ve attended have been in the US in places such as Los Angeles, Anaheim, Seattle, Orlando, Boston and, most recently, Vegas in 2012. Toronto is a great venue for a conference, especially if your able to rent a car and explore the area outside the city such as Muskoka for its rugged beauty and Niagara for its wineries and the falls.

Keep Your Business Data Aligned with SharePoint 2010 with New Term Sync Add-On

Microsoft did not provide a connection between its Business Connectivity Services and the SharePoint 2010 Managed Metadata feature, so SharePoint Solutions created one. Recently, the company released new SharePoint software add-on - Managed Metadata Term Store Sync for SharePoint 2010 (Term Sync) - which provides the missing link between a business’s data and its SharePoint taxonomy.

"ESPC in 2013 was well organized, professional, and handled any incidents with grace"

I had the chance to attend the European SharePoint Conference in Copenhagen this February, having been invited by SharePointReviews.com. The three-day conference is the largest European SharePoint conference, offering some of the brightest stars on the SharePoint sky, both as presenters and attendees.

Workshop Review: Patterns in Apps for SharePoint Store, Presented by Sonja Madsen

Sonja Madsen wants us to use apps immediately and extensively. In this session, she shows us a rather complex App consisting of a range of App features. This was clearly a developer and programmer oriented session, as evident by most of the demonstrations showing the underlying code.

I haven’t seen Sonja before, but the session went quite smoothly. The normal performance issues caused some initial problems, but Sonja recovered expertly. Audio worked very well, and her assistant Mads Nissen was helpful during the question section at the end, a section that Sonja handled very well.

Workshop Review: Workflow Stages Done Well, Presented by Mike Fitzmaurice

Reviewing Mike Fitzmaurice’s sessions is always extremely boring. The TLDR version is: Boringly perfect.

Mike has been presenting for many years all over the world and is one of the most experienced presenters on the scene. In addition, he’s presenting on a topic that is his job, full-time, namely SharePoint workflows.

In his traditional and casual style, Mike makes the room feel very included and relaxed. He executes his demonstrations perfectly (although he did make a couple of minor and largely irrelevant mistakes) and it feels like someone is demonstrating something extremely easy like Angry Birds.
