Mimosa's new NearPoint for SharePoint Archiving and Recovery solution addresses customer's needs for storage management, legal retention (eDiscovery), and recovery solution, all-in-one. It’s difficult to do this natively in SharePoint because it is deployed in such a distributed manner. NearPoint not only combines both archiving and recovery features, it also maintains easy end-user access to information...
This solution offers full-fidelity, comprehensive SharePoint data capture - it captures all content types and associated metadata and attachments, performs continuous capture via Change Notification, and preserves the relationships between sites and content.
Archiving and Compliance
NearPoint's Archiving features offer full-text indexing and global single-instancing on all archived content. This content can then be offloaded from SharePoint to enable storage cost savings while maintaining seamless end-user access via stubbing.
It also manages the retention and disposition of SharePoint content across the archive in accordance with organizational policies. It includes advanced eDiscovery workflow and in-place legal hold.
Item- and Platform-level Backup and Recovery
With comprehensive capture and archiving capabilities also comes the ability to provide SharePoint recovery functionality. It allows both item-level (fine-grained) and platform-level (coarse-grained) recovery. For fine-grained recovery, NearPoint allows administrators to browse and search the SharePoint hierarchy via the NearPoint admin console to select a recovery scope (e.g., specific item) and destination. Content can then be restored to the original or to a new destination while NearPoint automatically resolves discrepancies and respects permissions.
With coarse-grained recovery, NearPoint recovers full SharePoint environments. This provides both recovery and migration solutions for SharePoint components such as the front-end web server, content databases, shared service provider (SSP) databases, the configuration database, and the search database and search index files.
Already Using Mimosa NearPoint for File Systems and Exchange?
Add a SharePoint Module. NearPoint for Files, Exchange and SharePoint can be purchased and run independently or together, all through the same console. Companies can reapply existing policies to SharePoint items. Multiple SharePoint farms can be managed through one NearPoint console, but different geographic locations must be managed separately.
NearPoint for SharePoint is priced the same as other NearPoint modules: $40 per standalone user, and $24 per user as an add-on to an existing NearPoint product (Files/Exchange).
