Password Change SharePoint Web Part alleviates the workload of SharePoint Administrators by allowing users to change their own passwords while automatically adhering to your security policy.
- Allows Active Directory (ADS) or Local NT users to change their password, using a standard text box interface (i.e., old password, new password, and confirm new password).
- Warns the user if the password change failed and/or does not meet company security policy for both ADS and NT.
- For both ADS and Local Server User Groups, the associated password policy text can be customized and displayed to the user through the Web Part user interface.
- Supports multiple security zones and forms based authentication (SharePoint 3.0 only).
- Includes options to lock and/or hide the domain and restrict the ability to change a password to only the currently logged in user account only (SharePoint 3.0 only).
When a user accesses a page where the Bamboo Password Change Web Part is configured, the Web Part automatically detects the users' user name and domain (unless a domain has already been specified in the Web Part Properties). The user then enters their old password, the new password and a confirmation of the new password and then clicks Change Password. The Web Part verifies the new password and then submits the change. If the current password is incorrect or the new password does not meet the password policy criteria in place at your site, the user receives and error message.
