KnowledgeLake Imaging Server software transforms SharePoint into a production imaging system capable of meeting high-volume needs.

KnowledgeLake Imaging for SharePoint is an enterprise scalable and comprehensive SharePoint ECM solution for searching, viewing, securing, routing and annotating your company’s mission critical electronic content. It is more capable than even the more expensive legacy ECM applications, and since the KnowledgeLake Document Imaging solution is built entirely within Microsoft SharePoint, it is easy to implement, easy to administer, and is low risk and low cost.

With KnowledgeLake Imaging Server, you can:

  • Provide easy access to your information workers with pre-configured or flexible search scenarios
  • View, annotate and index images from a web browser using a SilverLight based document viewer
  • Easily scan batches of documents
  • Centralize the configuration of indexing, database validation and lookups for use across the entire KnowledgeLake product family
  • Scan and index documents without ever leaving the SharePoint interface

Key components

  • Search
Allows users to perform exact relevance searches using any combination of index values. Searches can be pre-configured and saved so that users can simply enter the appropriate index values and search across multiple SharePoint sites and document libraries. The KnowledgeLake Imaging search interface is a completely customizable web part that can  personalize the look and feel of search results, which can be grouped, filtered and sorted.  Imaging 2010 searching now supports combined property and keyword searching for all SharePoint content through a web part or the KnowledgeLake Imaging Search Center.
  • KnowledgeLake View
The 2010 Silverlight based viewer has the look and feel of Microsoft Office products.  Users can view common document types from SharePoint such as PDF, TIFF, Office documents and most image formats immediately, without waiting for the entire document to download. This zero-footprint viewer makes it possible to view thumbnails and rotate, zoom, print and email images directly from a web browser. Users can view and/or edit the SharePoint properties while viewing the document, annotate documents from the browser and encrypt selective pages and portions of PDF and TIFF files. Specific pages from large documents can be booked marked for quick access, plus easily send URL Links to these bookmarks to any SharePoint user.
  • KnowledgeLake Index
Provides an enterprise-wide indexing schema that allows administrators to configure document repositories, content types, index values, database validations and database lookups—all from a central location inside of SharePoint. This indexing schema integrates with all KnowledgeLake components for a consistent indexing interface. It allows all KnowledgeLake products to be configured centrally in SharePoint, but store the configurations locally for enhanced performance.
  • KnowledgeLake Scan
Allows users to scan directly from within a SharePoint Document Library. Knowledgelake Scan is compliant with TWAIN scanners and will display the scanned images in SharePoint. Users can then view the images directly in the KnowledgeLake Scan window and index with KnowledgeLake Imaging Index prior to the final save.
  • Complete Software Development Kit
Enables easy integration and customization within your organization.

Support tries their hardest but it is evident their programmers don't effectively pass on any knowledge. Waiting for answers takes a very long time, if you get one at all.

Product Reviews

Pros Excellent Support, Support Manual, Easy to Install/Configuration

A very reliable tool used in conjunction with Capture Server. Provides many of the classic document management features as well as some nice productivity features like Saved Searches for the knowledge workers.

Product Reviews

Pros Provides functionality for annotations, saved searches, and a powerful viewer.
Cons Implementations with multiple MOSS web front ends can be a challenge since all configuration is set to use one single address. Multiple addresses supported through Alternate Access Mappings are/were not supported.
