Migrate existing intranet or extranet sites to the SharePoint 2007 Web Content Management platform. Migrate from MCMS 2002, Interwoven, Stellent, Vignette, RedDot, Percussion, and Tridion
Home-grown websites.

By automating many of the arduous tasks traditionally associated with a website migration, such as generating lists of URLs, copying and pasting snippets of Html, and correcting links, you will save your team from having to undertake a time consuming and labour intensive manual migration.

Key Benefits:

  • Reduce website migration costs by up to 90%.
  • Maximize your investment in existing website and document content.
  • Accelerate your migration to the SharePoint 2007 web content management platform.
  • Avoid a labour intensive, time consuming, copy-and-paste-style website migration.

Supported Source Systems

  • Microsoft Content Management Server 2002.
  • 3rd Party Enterprise WCM Systems such as Interwoven, Stellant, Vignette, RedDot, Percussion, and Tridion...
  • All Http-accessible, home-grown, static, and dynamic websites.

Key Features:

Crawl and inventory your site:
The first step in a website migration is knowing what you have. Migration Manager allows you to quickly generate a complete list of all the Html pages, and related resources on your site. Content that is old, or to be archived, can be quickly culled from the project.

Analyze your content: Powerful filtering, sorting, and visualization tools allow you to identify the important aspects of your existing website: Discover all of your content types, page templates, and site hierarchies.

Map site hierarchies: Your existing site hierarchy can be mapped to your new site hierarchy within Migration Manager, or you can choose to auto-generate the target hierarchy based on your existing one.

Extract and map Html regions: Extract all key Html regions from within your Html pages, such as titles, abstracts, bodies and images using an intuitive, visual tagging tool. Sophisticated extraction rules may be built using the power of XPath. Extracted regions can then be mapped to fields within a MOSS 2007 Pages Library. A single extraction rule can be re-used across thousands of similar pages.

Manage links: Save hundreds of hours of post-migration, manual content cleanup: Migration Manager allows you to automatically correct all links within migrated Html content.

Migrate related resources: Related resources such as images and documents can be migrated along with Html pages, and copied to an image or document library within SharePoint.

Develop custom transformations: For complex migration scenarios, Migration Manager has a built-in actions framework, allowing developers to write custom transformations.

"THE" gold standard for migrating from any web sol

This is the ONLY solution I use for site migrations to SharePoint!

Product Reviews

Pros Best way to migrate any web application to SharePoint. Has built in connectors for SharePoint & Content Management Server (MCMS) sites as well as other WCM solutions. Best part is it also can consume any HTML based site (including MCMS/SharePoint/etc) and use XSLT based content extraction to map to new fields in SharePoint. When content needs extra processing, you can use one of the provided actions, or you can create a custom actions using .NET code thus very extensible.
Cons None... does exactly what it says it does.

Metalogix SharePoint Site Migration Manager, Great

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful
The "extra" value of this product comes out when you realize you can use it to "migrate" your SharePoint sites from your development/staging servers to production!

Product Reviews

Pros Ability to migrate entire 2003 sites, allows you to choose if you want to migrate permissions or not, move specific lists only, rearrange the site in its new location, or move 2007 sites from one collection to another.
Cons User guide could be improved. Metalogix provides videos for "common tasks" but not a good description of all of the steps/options you have so you can easily to whatever tasks it allows you to do. You have to use it a few times to figure out how it works and where the option selections are to change the behavior during the migration.

Way too much reliable - That's what I need

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful
That's my only tool in migration, period!

Product Reviews

Pros Many :)

* Small dotnet based install (4mb - 100% MS solution, no need for Apache Tomcat server, Java and etc;) )
* 5 min install (no moving parts)
* Good docs and videos - very intuitive
* New features rolling out ever 6-8 weeks
* Excellent support
* Restructuring or re-templatizing capabilities for lists, libraries and sites (SSMM)
* Consolidating lists, libraries and sites from multiple source servers (SSMM)
* Merge or split lists (SSMM)
* Promote subsites to site collections or demote toplevel sites to subsites (SSMM). I am currently investigating to see how they are doing this operation under the hood, how much this will put you in the risk of losing your data or metadata and if they use any unsupported ways to accomplish this task - I will keep you posted on this.
* Easy mapping and migratation from WSSv2/SPS2003 site permissions to WSSv3/ MOSS 2007 (SSMM)
* Migrating document libraries and lists to SharePoint sites while retaining views, versions, user-info and metadata (SSMM)
* Adding metadata to docs and HTML content prior to migration (This really gives you a lot of flexibility in migration process - just think about it!) (FSMM and WSMM)
* Ability to correct content links after content has been migrated (Getting old? this option is your friend :) ) (WSMM)
* Rapid prototyping for your SharePoint or CMS demos with actual customer content in it
Cons Except the price that *MAY* not make sense for some projects , I have absolutely experienced nothing.

By far and away the single best migration tool for getting content into sharepoint from your existing WCM or other system. Slick UI, factored design and in context migration authoring. It's *the* way to move your content driven apps to sharepoint.
